Rabbi Cantor Gershon Silins is rabbi of the Norwich Liberal Jewish Community and on the rabbinic team of West London Synagogue. He previously served as cantor of Temple Sinai Congregation in Toronto, Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and Temple Emanuel in Kensington, Maryland.
He has served on the Outreach Team of Liberal Judaism, and, in North America, on the Board of the Toronto Council of Chazzanim, the Board of the American Conference of Cantors and on the Joint Commission on Worship, Music and Religious Living of the Union for Reform Judaism.
Rabbi Cantor Silins received rabbinic ordination from Leo Baeck College in 2019. He received the degree of Master of Sacred Music and cantorial ordination from the School of Sacred Music of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York. In 2015, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Sacred Music (honoris causa) by Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles, marking his contributions to the North American cantorate.
